Introduction

Do you ever find yourself admiring a piece of artwork and wishing to yourself that you had artistic talent?

If the answer is “YES!” You’ve stumbled upon the perfect art blog for you.

My name is Sophie Glass, also known as Sophie Paintz, and I am a self-taught artist based in Bloomington, Minnesota. I am Ethiopian, Lakota and I’m an enrolled member of the Red Lake Band of Ojibwe. I am currently a team member of Buckanaga Social Club, which is a group of Indigenous artists located across the state of Minnesota. With the benefits of today’s technology, we can easily collaborate on projects in a way that fits into our busy home and work lives.

My goal for this blog is to share parts of my artistic journey with you and to hopefully give some insight into the life of an artist who wasn’t aware of their artistic abilities until I finally gave myself the chance to be a beginner. I truly believe art is for everyone and think that everyone should give themselves the chance to be “bad” at art just for the sake of enjoyment and trying something new.

Whether your art medium involves painting, dancing, baking, singing, taking photographs, fashion, or even martial arts, I am here to encourage you to continue being creative! As long as your craft lights a fire under you, it is worth continuing to pour into.

By channeling our creativity and self-expression through art, we can build a sense of individuality and confidence that no one can take from us. Not even mentioning the immense amounts of mental health benefits that come with being creative. With all that being said, I hope you enjoy following me on my artistic journey and hope you get to creating something messy and fun along the way as well.

🎨 Let’s get messy!
